Welcome from the Head

Blessed with a beautiful campus, life in the Upper School begins for pupils at the start of year 10 and aims to build on the good work of Mr Fox and his Middle School team. The Upper School provides opportunities for children to succeed in a wide variety of environments and their achievement at every level is celebrated.

We hold high aspirations for all of our pupils, and teachers offer a learning environment in which they can be achieved. Pupils are recognised as individuals and encouraged to develop their academic resilience and to involve themselves fully in the life of our school.

Outside of the classroom pupils will continue to have the opportunity to represent the school in a variety of academic, sporting and arts based activities and in year 10 will continue their experience of the ever popular CCF and Duke of Edinburgh programmes which promote so many fundamental aims of Upper School life by developing resilience and encouraging active involvement.

Life for GCSE pupils in the Upper School is undoubtedly busy and challenging, but very rewarding. We present our pupils with excellent learning opportunities and encourage them to achieve their full potential in all areas of school life. Our year 11 pupils enjoy many chances to nurture the younger Middle School pupils, and whether it is assisting with Maths intervention, acting as CCF NCOs, prefects or House Captains they are eager to show their mettle.

Character in the Upper School means so much more than just involvement in the huge array of extra-curricular opportunities. It is in a pupil’s GCSE years that the work of the College’s programme of ‘Purpose, Passion and Challenge’ is brought to fruition. Relationships between pupils and teachers are a key factor behind academic success and we aim to work together, challenging expectations and setting aspirational targets.

The Upper School is a happy and caring place where every child is valued and the positive and supportive atmosphere enables each pupil to reach their potential. There is so much more to life in the Upper School and I would encourage you to read the Upper School handbook which can be accessed from the link at the bottom of this page.
