Scholarships and Fees

Preparatory School Scholarships

The award of the scholarship will be reviewed annually and this review will include the attitude and behaviour of the pupil as well as their academic progress. The Governing Council and Bursar's department will be kept informed of the review process.


Upper School Scholarships

Year 7 (11+)

Academic: Awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance examination and interview
Music: Awarded on the basis of audition and interview
Drama: Awarded on the basis of audition and interview. (A Portfolio / scrapbook of previous experience should be brought to the interview.)
Art: Awarded on the basis of portfolio/scrapbook and interview.
Sport: Awarded on the basis of assessment and interview. (A portfolio / scrapbook of previous achievements should be brought to the interview).
General Distinction: Awarded on the basis of performance in two of the areas above and interview.

Year 10 (14 + )

Academic scholarships will be awarded after examination in English, Maths and Science and a Modern Foreign Language.

Other awards as for Year 7 (11+)

Sixth Form (16+)

Academic Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of examination in two subjects of the candidate's choice. There will also be an interview with the Principal and the Director of Studies.

Other Awards: Awarded on the basis of assessment/audition/portfolio. Standards are demanding - music scholars for example should be at grade 6 level in at least one instrument, while potential sports scholars should be competing at county level (U16) in at least one sport and able to offer one further sport.

For all awards emphasis will be placed on the recommendation of the candidate's current Head Teacher. All awards are worth up to £1500 per annum, but in exceptional cases an award of 50% of full fees may be offered to an outstanding candidate
