Pupils in the Pre prep are given the opportunity to develop their creativity and imagination during art and design lessons. Weekly lessons last for one and a half hours and follow the guidelines in the QCA and national curriculum. Children are encouraged to explore a wide range of materials and techniques including drawing, painting, collage and sculpture.
Children are introduced to the work of artists and visit local art galleries. They have taken part in workshops and produced pieces of their own inspired by the artwork around them.
Design and Technology in the Pre prep
Children learn to design, make and evaluate simple everyday products through topics on healthy eating -making fresh fruit salads and smoothies for example. They enjoy using a variety of construction kits to help them understand how to make toys and models that move. Pupils are taught how to use tools and equipment safely and to share ideas and resources.
