Drama

Every child is given the opportunity to get involved in Drama in the Prep School. As well as the links with the curriculum in English, Drama Club takes place every week as part of the After School Activities timetable during the Autumn term.

We play warm up and trust games. The main part of the lesson usually involves group work, where the children will produce a "still picture", name or a short piece of drama, which they will then perform for the rest of the class. Emphasis is on working effectively together, respecting and appreciating each other's work. This year, we have introduced a Creative Writing element into the Club also, allowing the children to link their drama and writing work together in order to develop their skills and understanding. Through Drama, the children are able to develop their speaking and listening skills as well and in turn their self-confidence can flourish.

Each year, the annual Prep School play is held in the Spring term, just before we break up for Easter. Past plays have been 'Hotshot' by Dave Corbett, Roald Dahl's adaptation of 'Jack and the Beanstalk', 'Dragon', 'Nightingale' and 'What a Knight' which have all been hugely successful and very enjoyable for all the children involved. This year, we are performing 'Oink! - a pig of a tale' in March.
