1st Team Football

The 1st XI footballers maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a hard fought 2-1 win away at QEGS Blackburn. On a large pitch in excellent condition for January the team took some time adjusting to the absence of the y11 players who were travelling to London for their cup game. The first half saw few chances but keeper Sharp was in good form and the defence were looking an organised unit. The second half began brightly with a long range effort from Clancy just missing the target. However, QEGS took the lead after another good save from Sharp cannoned off defender Brook for an own goal. The response was positive and immediate, as man of the match Dodghson latched on to an under hit back pass to slide past the keeper and equalise. Buoyed by this, the team pressed for a late winner and were rewarded when Moran headed home from a well delivered corner from captain Holloway.

The U16 boys completed an excellent midweek set of football results with a 7-1 away win at the Harrodian School in defence of the ISFA Shield which the team won last year. After a relaxing train and tube journey to London the team started the game in impressive style with Ng and Anson in command of the midfield. Excellent finishes from Simon and Povey, along with goals from y10 midfielders Anson and Pritchard gave the College a 4-0 half-time lead. The opposition rallied to pull a goal back and threaten on several further occasions before three late goals, including a hat-trick for Anson killed off the tie. The boys represented Liverpool College well and were warmly welcomed by their hosts for a game played in a very good spirit.
