Admissions

We educate children from 4 – 18 years old and welcome applications from parents both within and outside the Liverpool area.

The school is heavily oversubscribed and admission to year groups other than Reception, Year 7 and Year 12 is rare although we do hold “In Year Application” waiting lists for Years 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9 & 10.

NATIONAL OFFER DAY FOR RECEPTION 2026

On Thursday 16th April 2026 you will hear from your local authority which primary school your child has been allocated to. We would like to welcome those who are joining us in September.

We appreciate that with the large number of applications to the school there will be many children who are disappointed not to be allocated a place. 520 families listed Liverpool College as one of their preferences and there are 90 places. We have applied the Admission Policy which states clearly how applications are dealt with. Please see the Admission Information Booklet HERE for a reminder of how places are allocated.

Places were allocated as follows in accordance with our Admission Policy.

Children with an Education Health Care Plan naming Liverpool College = 2

Looked After or Previously Looked After Children = 4

Free School Meal eligibility places = 2

Siblings = 37

Staff children = 4

This left 41 places to be allocated randomly. 21 of these places were allocated to children living within a 2 mile radius and 20 to children living within AND outside a 2 mile radius.

WAITING LIST

All applicants who were not allocated a place will be kept on our waiting list until the end of the academic year (July 2027). This list is not ranked and should a place arise the same procedure as outlined above will be followed.

Parents have the right to appeal against the decision to an independent appeal panel and full details on how to appeal are available from the school This email address is being protected from spambots.  WAITING LIST:

Year 7 2027 Admissions

We will be holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 16th September 2026 and hope that families will enjoy touring the school and hearing more about the admission procedure. Please click HERE for more information.

Applications for Year 7 2027 admission should be made through Liverpool City Council or your own local authority and can be made from 1st September 2026.

An information booklet will be posted here on 1st September 2026.

MUSIC APTITUDE TEST

10% of places will be allocated to pupils with a particular aptitude for Music. Those who wish to be considered for a music aptitude place will be required to take a test designed to test Music aptitude. The 10% of places will be allocated in test score order. These candidates are selected on how they performed in the Music aptitude tests. There will be two music aptitude tests and candidates who achieve the score required in the first test will be invited to take a second test on a later date.

If you wish to register your child for the Music Aptitude Test you can do so from 1st September 2026. A link will be posted here on that date.

The closing date for applications for the music test will be 25th September 2026. No previous knowledge of Music is expected or required because the test is looking for aptitude to learn rather than ability or knowledge. No preparation is necessary and there are no practice papers available. In order to ensure equal opportunities for all music applicants, we will not take into consideration any teacher references or music certificates so please do not send them in.

OPTION BLOCKS 2026 - 2028

APPLICATION FORM   (for external appLicants)

Your choice of Sixth Form is an important one. There are many options and you should consider not only which subjects but also which environment and ethos will suit you best.  At Liverpool College we are convinced that students are best served by a broad Sixth Form experience. For this reason, we expand the classroom to include leadership education, competitive sports, extensive artistic and cultural opportunities, travel and a broad programme of Personal Development alongside the academic subjects studied.

INTERNAL APPLICATIONS

Our own chapter 11 pupils have had an introduction assembly and attended Open Evening. After the results of their mocks are issued, we will ask them to indicate subject choices and then make final choices from the option blocks – this survey will take place in Febraury.

EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

We welcome interest from external applicants for Sixth Form places at Liverpool College. The deadline for registering an interest in our Sixth Form was 1st March 2026.  However, if you wish to submit a late application you can contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Applications made on time will be given priority.

Once you have registered your interest we will keep in touch with you through each step.
We are always available to answer any questions you may have so don't hesitate to get in touch via email:

Good luck with your studies and preparation for your GCSEs. After the exams we will invite you to come in for some Taster Lessons in the subjects you are considering.
Please note that we do not hold individual discussions at this stage. On GCSE Results Day you will be invited in to have a discussion with a senior member of staff to confirm your subject choices and that you have met the minimum requirements.

IN YEAR Applications

In Year applications are when parents apply for their child to transfer from one school to another in year groups other than Reception, Year 7 and Sixth Form.

The procedures are as follows:

Years 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 : There are currently no places available in any of these year groups. If you wish to add your child to the waiting list for the academic year (2025-2026) you will need to complete the 2025 - 2026 Waiting List Registration Form which can be downloaded HERE.  Each waiting list only lasts for the duration of the academic year and if the situation doesn't change you will need to complete a new form for 2026-2027. These forms will be posted here on 1st May each year.

Years 8, 9 & 10  :  If your child is currently on roll at a Liverpool School you should ask their school to contact Liverpool College to discuss a potential transfer.  It is very rare that there will be a place available and if we are unable to offer a place you will be able to add your child to our waiting list.  If you have recently moved into the city or transport to the child's current school is no longer practical you should make an application at www.liverpoool.gov.uk/admissions  under the In Year Transfers tab.  The Local Authority will coordinate information regarding the in year transfer.
