Robot Wars comes to Liverpool College!

Chapter 8 WiltonScholars applied their construction, electronics, engineering and critical thinking skillsto fullpotential thisweekwhen they were asked to design and build their own robots, then work collaboratively to adapt their robots to compete in a range of differing challenges. The workshop was ledby Arena Marshall and Robot Warsroboticschampion Ian Botwright, who brought the UK middleweight champion robot with him to launch the competition and demonstrate the fundamentals of design and engineering. Using a Knexconstruction system, pupils assembled the remote control fighting robots from scratch and customised them with electronics. Challenges included Skittles, Football and sumo style battling. Most importantly, pupil explored the social aspects of successful design work by learning to co-operate to ensure team success. Organised by Mrs Doran, feedbackfromthepupilswasextremelypositive,withonedescribing itasthe‘best workshoptheyhadeverdone in their life!’
