A Level Results

Our Year 13 leavers are celebrating their results today. There are many who deserve special congratulation. At least 3 pupils will take up their places at Oxbridge: Isobel W, 3A*, Natural Sciences, Cambridge, Sam R, History, Oxford and Jack C, Law at Oxford.

There was also good news for the future medics and dentists, with 4 pupils gaining the grades needed for their first choice university to study medicine or dentistry.

Some faculties and subjects were particularly impressive in adding value and in achievement at the top grades; History, English Literature, Physics, Further Maths and Art especially.

Other impressive performances were: James P who will fulfil his dream of studying Chinese Studies at Durham, and Mustafa F, 4A* and off to Imperial College to read Chemical Engineering.

Overall the average grade was a B- and well over 80 percent of grades were in the A*-C range.

Congratulations to all students and staff.

An outstanding 91% of pupils reached the expected standard in Maths.  With nearly 50% achieving greater depth. Overall the so called RWM, or combination score was 83% almost 30% higher than last year and 20% higher than the national average. We are proud of our pupils and their teachers for doing their best and doing so well.

Top 5 Schools in Merseyside

The Real Schools Guide published in Liverpool Echo has given our secondary phase it's highest rating ever.  5 star across the board and top 5 in Merseyside.  We are apparently the 174th ranked school out of more than 3100 in the country. Exactly how these rankings are made remains a little bit of a secret recipe, but we are delighted to see the efforts of pupils and staff recognised in this way.

County Hockey Champions

The Senior hockey team were successful this afternoon at the U18 County Tournament.  It was disappointing to only see 3 teams there, but they were the strongest 3 teams, so competition was good.  In the first match, Liverpool College faced Merchant Taylors.  It was a closely fought match with chances at either end.  There were some excellent link up play between Lydia W, Kirsten B and Eva B but we could not convert our chances.  We came close with a penalty corner from Orla N, but failed to convert.  Jasmine P was excellent in goal, preventing Merchant Taylors from scoring and the game finished 0-0.

U15 7's squad just miss out on glory in Manchester

Thursday's snowfall would not deter our resilient U15 rugby squad from travelling over to the Audenshaw 7's tournament and going up against some of the best schools in the north.

Wins came against Bury Grammar and West Hill with narrow losses against the hosts Audenshaw and then Stockport GS, the favourites to win the event.

Every member of the squad put their 'body on the line' and team spirit was superb going in to the plate final against a strong Kirkham Grammar side.

Could they scoop the prize?  Thomas, Cain and Wilson had been 'on fire' all day ..... Could this Kirkham side 'put them out???' The troops were rallied by coaches Lavender and Muscatelli
